Cosmetic dentistry is the art and technology of improving the appearance of ones smile. A beautiful smile can go a long way in boosting ones self confidence. Our doctors are adept at creating beautiful, natural-looking smiles that complement the rest of your features.

Various conditions can be helped with cosmetic dentistry, such as stained or yellow teeth, missing or broken teeth, an uneven gum line, or spacing problems.

At University General Dentistry, our doctors are highly trained and experienced with cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as porcelain veneers and crowns, teeth whitening, and even dental implants to replace missing or damaged teeth needing replacement. They’ll spend the time to answer all your questions. In many cases, your smile makeover can be completed in one or two visits.

Creating your new smile

The first step of your smile makeover is getting any needed images of your teeth and the underlying bone structure. This can include photographs of the inside and outside of your mouth and any needed X-rays. You and the doctor will review the images, discuss your different options and determine the best approach to creating your new look.

We believe in patient education. The doctor will walk you through each procedure to make sure you understand what it does and how it aligns with your goals and expectations. If needed, we will take impressions of your teeth and create a wax model for use in designing your smile. We can make adjustments according to your preferences until it’s just right.

Our Cosmetic Procedures

Porcelain Veneers

A porcelain veneer is a thin shell that is tightly bonded to the front of a tooth. Veneers are used to correct conditions such as discolored, chipped or crooked teeth; gaps between teeth; and even as a method of fixing crooked teeth. Veneers can give you an extraordinary transformation.

Professional Teeth Whitening

For a beautiful, natural-looking bright smile, we provide three types of whitening techniques: Custom-fitted take-home whitening trays, Kör in-office whitening or a combination of the two for the deepest whitening treatment.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is the use of a strong, tooth-colored composite resin to fill cracks, decayed areas, undesirable shapes or chips, or for other issues. A bonding procedure can be a more affordable alternative to handle different cosmetic concerns.

You can ask the doctor about bonding and whether it’s a good choice for your situation.

Porcelain Crowns

A crown is used to restore your tooth to its ideal size, shape and function. Crowns are for both restorative and cosmetic applications in dentistry. Our porcelain crowns look beautiful and natural.

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a replacement tooth “root” used to support crowns, bridges and dentures. For problems such as a missing tooth or severely decayed tooth needing replacement, an implant could be the best restoration choice you could make.

Gum Recontouring

Sometimes a smile shows too much gum tissue, making the teeth appear small. This is known as a “gummy smile.” A gum line can also appear uneven due to too much gum tissue on one or more teeth. Our doctors use a soft tissue laser to gently and safely remove excess gum tissue, improving a “gummy smile” or straightening out an uneven gum line.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Fillings are a popular and reliable use of dental bonding material. You can use it to replace any of your dark metal fillings from previous dental work. Our durable composite resin fillings not only look better, but have been found to be less irritating than earlier metal fillings.

For new fillings, a composite resin procedure requires removal of only the decayed portion of the tooth, rather than having to remove some of the healthy tooth (as in earlier metal fillings). The composite filling bonds directly to your tooth, so it’s less likely to cause your tooth to crack.

For those who need fillings or already have metal fillings, a tooth-colored filling can make a huge difference in appearance.
