Friendly, gentle services for kids
At University General Dentistry, we take care of your entire family’s dental needs. Family dentistry is all about providing care for you and your little ones, and each of our doctors and staff love kids and are very good with them. When Dr. Nelson was in dental school he was chosen as the kid’s favorite dentist!
We like to encourage parents to bring their children with them to the office, and you can even bring them to the back of the office to see the exam rooms. This helps get them familiar with the dental environment so they will be more relaxed when they start their own dental care.
We provide friendly and comfortable services for kids
We know how important it is to start children out on the right foot with their dental care, and we want to make them feel at home when they are here. We are friendly, patient and gentle, and this approach helps get kids to want their dental treatments. We love to start seeing children as early as 2 years old.
Our services for children include the following:
- Sealants to help prevent tooth decay
- Gentle, thorough cleanings
- Fillings
- Gentle extractions, including non-impacted wisdom teeth
- Crowns
- Root Canal Therapy
- Education and oral hygiene instruction
Child’s first visit
When a child comes in for his first visit, we will consult with the parents to discuss proper oral hygiene at home and nutrition. We will do an examination to check for cavities as well as see how the teeth and arches are forming. We will also take very low radiation digital X-rays if needed. If any problems are found, we will go over them with the parents.
Gentle Cleanings
Our friendly hygienists take special care of our young patients, giving them gentle cleanings and taking the time to educate them about taking care of their teeth. We offer TVs in the exam room which they can watch while we are treating them. We want children to be comfortable in the dental environment so that they know it can be a pleasant experience.
Our hygienists are great with kids and show them how to properly care for their teeth.

Our New Patient Special Offer is for both adults and children. It includes a comprehensive exam to detect any decay or other problems, X-rays if needed and a consultation with the doctor.
