Laser Dentistry
Our dentists use the Odyssey® soft-tissue laser by Ivoclar for a variety of gum-related treatments. Soft-tissue diode lasers are handheld devices used in procedures to disinfect diseased gum tissue, or to re-contour the gum line when a smile is too “gummy.” Dental lasers also sterilize and inhibit the sensation of any discomfort, meaning no anesthesia is necessary. The soft-tissue laser is more precise than a scalpel, does not require any cutting or suturing, and speeds up healing times.
Ultrasonic Scalers
The ultrasonic scaler is a special teeth cleaning device that vibrates at a high frequency to break down hard deposits of plaque and tartar. Ultrasonic scaling is more comfortable than hand scaling and is highly efficient. Our hygienists use the ultrasonic scaler to effectively remove hard stains from the surface of your teeth during routine teeth cleanings.
Arestin® Antibiotic Therapy
In addition to deep cleanings with root planing and scaling, when treating gum disease, our doctors may recommend Arestin® antibiotic treatment therapy to ensure that your gum health recovery is maximized. Arestin therapy helps rid gum pockets of infectious bacteria that cause gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss. This treatment also greatly inhibits gum disease from developing or worsening in the future.
Panoramic X-rays
This machine takes digital X-ray images to provide a panoramic view of your teeth and mouth. Panoramic X-rays allow our dentists to get a complete and accurate view of your entire mouth, which is essential for planning precise dental treatments.
Digital X-rays
Digital X-rays use much less radiation than conventional film X-rays. The other advantage of digital X-rays is they allow our doctors to more easily inspect small problem areas such as tiny cavities. It is also very useful for patient education as it is much easier to show patients what areas of their mouth need addressing.
Electric rotary drills
Rotary endodontic handpieces have become the modern method of performing endodontic procedures, such as root canal therapy. Our doctors use electric handpieces because they make treatment procedures faster, more comfortable and more effective when removing decay or when preparing teeth for crowns.
